Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition is a release for home consoles; PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and later the Nintendo Switch. It exclusive to, and is the only release available on consoles, containing the base game and both expansions - The White March - Part I and Part II.

On a gameplay perspective, yes, you don't need to play PoE1 to enjoy PoE2, like any other games on the market that has a prequel. But on a roleplay perspective, PoE1 is a must and it is a very bad idea to skip it if you are about roleplay at all and interested in the World of PoE.

The Ultimate Edition will include the game's three DLC packs — Beast of Winter, The Forgotten Sanctum, and Seeker, Slayer, Survivor — as well as the option to choose between the recently-released turn-based combat mode and original real-time system.

You also get very few race specific dialogue choices, which in the end won't really matter. As far as i know you are not locked out of any quests because of your race/gender. At least, as a female, you can have fun with Serel, too. So, enjoy the screen turning black for a few seconds.

Players can expect to beat Pillars of Eternity after roughly 36 hours of playtime.

Pillars of Eternity focuses on action with pause while Diablo 4 is pure action. Diablo IV has 5 classes while Pillars of Eternity has more customization options.

It is possible to solo this game, but you need to know the ins and outs of the game before you do so. I.e. you need to know which encounters to skip, how to get figurines quickly so you can summon allies, what level you need to be before you can try a certain encounter, etc.

Can you romance in Pillars of Eternity? ›

Romance is traditionally a minor feature of Obsidian Entertainment's games (if at all). Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire features several characters with whom the Watcher can form romantic attachments: Aloth Corfiser.

The level cap has been raised from 12 to 14 in Part I, and is further increased in Part II to level 16. Obsidian Entertainment said that the recommended level to start the expansion is level 7, and over leveled characters will have the option to upscale the difficulty.

My personal favorite would be Paladin (Tank and ACC buff), Priest (Buffer/Healer), 2 Druids (AOE DPS and CC), 2 Ciphers (Single Target DPS and CC), which is a really CC heavy party. It works well but there is a lot of micromanagment since you want to chain CC abilities so that the enemy never has a chance to act.

Now, the Pillars of Eternity games aren't explicitly based on any D&D ruleset but by the looks of it, it uses a certain percentage of the 4th edition rules. The first game is closer to D&D than the second but both are worth any CRPG player's time.
