What are the keys to the gold vaults? ›

Gold Treasure Vault Keys are Treasure Items in Sea of Thieves that are found as a reward for Wayfinder Voyages issued by the Gold Hoarders Trading Company. These Keys look like Totem statues that lead to Totem themed Gold Hoarder Treasure Vaults hidden on Large Islands all over The Sea of Thieves.

Like any Treasure, Vault Keys can be sold for Gold and Reputation, however, they can also be used to unlock a Gold Hoarder Treasure Vault. The location of the Treasure Vault is noted in the name of the Vault Key itself.

This Treasure Vault can be found on Crescent Isle inside the Northern cave in the middle of the island. To get there, enter into the island's center archway from the East and turn right to enter the Northern cave.

Vault keys can be found either in chests or sitting on the ground in certain places across the Fortnite map. It's important to note that not every chest contains a vault key, so don't be surprised if it takes you a while to find one. Vault keys can be found waiting on the ground.

Using a key on Key Vault, we can encrypt or decrypt information. While this process can be done in code as well, the key security feature here is that the private key never leaves the vault. The vault acts as a black box enabling us to perform operations with the keys, but never see the key itself.

The doors will reset weekly, so you'll need 30 Zskera Vault Keys to unlock all the doors each week. Behind each locked door you'll find a variety of chests, gold piles, or boxes waiting to be looted. There's also the chance that you'll release an enemy too, so be ready to fight whenever you use a key.

Keys can be bought in groups of 15, 35, 75, 200, or 450 keys. There isn't a cap on how many bought keys a player can have at a time. Players can spend an unlimited amount of money on keys. Players can only buy 20,000 keys in a single day.

Gold Treasure Vault Keys can only be acquired during Rank 45+ Wayfinder Voyages issued by Gold Hoarders. The Ashen Reach and Fetcher's Rest are exclusive to the Ashen Wayfinder Voyage sold at Morrow's Peak.

Golden Keys can be acquired by: Finding one in an unlocked normal Chest in the Dungeon. Killing a Dungeon Slime (100% chance). Killing any other Dungeon enemy (1/65 chance).

The keys can usually be found in the residences of their owners. The loot in the vaults is unleveled, as are the guards inside, so make that you're prepared before entry. Dragonsreach, directly right of the stairs leading upstairs. Markarth, through a trapdoor next to the water in the Jarl's bedchamber.

How do you unlock gold vaults? ›

Gold Hoarder Treasure Vaults

Players will require a corresponding Treasure Vault Key to unlock these Vaults. These keys are essentially identical to the Totem Keys from Tall Tales with the main difference being that they can also be sold to the Gold Hoarders (or Reaper's Bones).

Golden Keys are required to unlock the Locked Gold Chests found in the Dungeon, Old Shaking Chest in the Cavern Layer, and Golden Lock Boxes obtained by fishing in the Dungeon. A Golden Key is consumed upon use, so unlocking each Gold Chest will require an additional key.
